BT Chargecard doesn't count towards calls

I have line rental through BT but phone through Orange. This means I can't use 1280 to make any BT calls so I am charged for using 1571.
Following the advice on this site I ordered a BT Chargecard and made 8 calls in the previous quarter using this. These all appeared on my bill. However I still got charged a low use fee for 1571. I phoned BT but the customer services representative told me that BT Chargecard calls didn't count.
I can't find anywhere on the BT site where is says whether BT Chargecard calls do or don't, just some comments from this site from the BT representative who says they do count. Anyone know how I can prove this to BT?

I think that is the relevant aspect - an official BT representative has posted to that effect.I can't find anywhere on the BT site where is says whether BT Chargecard calls do or don't, just some comments from this site from the BT representative who says they do count. I trust one of them will quickly spot your post and arrange an immediate refund for you.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
The Chargecard tariffs are not even similar, and I'd suggest that since your 'discount' for using your phone is EXACTLY that, you cannot (reasonably) expect a Chargecard call to be treated in this way. Since Chargecard calls a (IMHO) orrifyingly exoensive - as is the 40p payphone nimimum charge, since a chargecard is effectively a reverse charge to your phone line, it is not the same as making a chargeable call from your phone line.
If a BT Rep stated this, it would be in error, as I've been using these since the days of Post Office Telecommunications and were simply an addendum to the bill.0 -
The BT rep did state this, so either it is a misleading error which ought to be corrected or I've been overcharged. I'm hoping that the BT rep will clarify either way......0

The official bt spokesman did authoritatively post this info here.
Don't let the matter rest. Write in with a complaint and direct BT to this:

Hi one,
A charge card gives customers the facility to make calls from around the world and add charges to their BT bill. As these charges are added to customer's bills, I can see no reason why they should not receive the 1571 service free of charge.
Could I ask you to send me a PM with your account details as I will be in a better position to investigate this matter?
I will look forward to hearing from you soon.

The customer's account details are immaterial. It is BT's established policy on Chargecard billing that matter.0

Robbie,
I've tried to reply to your reply to me in the PM but your quota is exceeded.0 -
I hope you have managed to get help from BT Company Rep by now but if not, the Terms and Conditions should surely cover you anyway without their needing to make specific mention of Chargecards.
The wording is "at least six chargeable or inclusive calls with BT": there is no stated restriction that the calls have to be physically from your own phone - only "with BT".
Maybe the billing system is simply not catering for these type of calls, as it appears has been happening with 1471-3 calls counting for free Caller Display - here too, a lot of wrong information to justify the charge has been circulating.

There is an ongoing discussion with a BT rep at the moment, when I get some definite answers I'll post them, but thanks for the links.0

Hi All,
I'm really sorry that there has been some conflicting information given about whether chargecard calls count towards the minimum call commitment. I would like to clarify that chargecard calls do not count towards the minimum call commitment
At least two calls per month on monthly billing or six calls per quarter must be made. Excludes calls to 0800 number ranges, 1471 and 1571. Chargecard calls are excluded. 1471 Call Return (press 3) is included. The calls are either chargeable or those that would be made as part of an inclusive calls package. Customers who make all their calls via BB Talk are not eligible for free Caller Display on their landline number.
Sorry for any confusion caused.
