'Reserve Usage Fee' can I claim it back

I recently approached barcays because i also had gone into my reserve and couldnt get out of it because every 5 days they where adding £22 onto my balance. The manager there advised me to cancel the reserve and then pay the balance owing back. They passed my balance onto there collections department who then kindly added a £100+ on in further charges. When i explained that i fully intended to pay the balance and had followed advise from the branch i asked if they could refund the last charges added and they said NO. I now owe them over £500 when i have probably had about £170 in cash from them this is a total rip off and i believe has been introduced knowing people will fall into the trap at some stage and claw back some of the monies they have had to refund people recently. I made an arrangement to pay them back which they tell me expires in November and the remaining balance is then instantly repayable when i explained i doubted i would be in a position to pay the balance i was told they would then just put a default on my account. I thought banks where meant to try and be a bit more understanding these days. Sorry to ramble on i have never had dealt with a bank like this they are so unhelpful.0

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I'm in a similar situation with Barclays.
I cancelled a DD and was then charged the £22 as accoring to the bank there's a cut off point in how many before a DD is due to when you can cancel it. I received a statement saying the £22 was due to come out of my account on the 15th Nov. (at this point I had checked my account and was approx -£35, a few days later I put £40 in and it automatically went leaving me a few pounds in credit) I went into the bank on the 12th and asked for the reserve to be taken off my account. The lady said it had been taken off my account and there would be no further charges. Soooo I assumed that on the 15th my account would go back into the minus, which it did (ended up been -£18) she said in the bank I'd be able to pay a bit off at a time if I needed to.
So, I was now -£18, and accruing to bank they had taken the reserve usage fee off for me. I was going to open a new account with natwest and just leave this account til I could afford to pay the charges.
I've now received a statement this morning saying that on the 15th Dec yet ANOTHER £22 is going to be taken from account????
Anyone got any ideas why this is?
Thanks0
