Hi, I have a Mellerware bread maker. I have made quite a lot of bread with it,
the only problem that i find is that the bread tastes abit sweet to me. what do you suggest that i do? The recipe states for a large loaf.
1 1/8 cups of water
2 1/2 tbsp skimmed milk powder
2 1/2 tbsp butter or oil
2 1/4 tbsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp salt
3 cups strong white flour
1 1/4 tsp dry yeast
I love home made bread and so do the rest of the family it's just the slight sweetness that puts me off, The bacon or sausage sarnie don't taste the same. please help.

I think you might be using too much sugar in your recipe.
2 1/4 tblspoons does sound a lot when you only need it to activate the yeast.
Hope that helps

Hi
I must agree that its too much sugar. I use virtually the same receipe but only use teaspoons not tablespoons. Good luck with your next one.Sealed pot challenge 5430 -

Hello, thanks for your suggestions. I think that you are all right about the sugar, I think that i will try making the bread with just 1/4 of a tspn this time.

Thank you all again. Have made the bread tonight, reducing the sugar as you all
suggested and it was a great success. Had cheese and onion sarnie and it was lovely. You are all good uns.
