I notice some of the new laptops have shiny screens.
Is this better or worse or just the same ?
Look very reflective to me !

My previous laptop had a shiny LXD Diamond (I think it was called, or something similar) type of screen, and I loved it. Text and imagery appeared clearly, everything sharp and distinctive. I didn't particularly notice reflections in the glass. No problems at all.
My current laptop (another Sony Vaio) is smaller, and without the shiny screen. I use PC a lot and think I prefer the duller screen, easier on the eye.
I suppose it comes down to 'you pays your money and takes your choice'.
You could compare models in a PC retailer and get general ideas, check which type of screen appeals.

Anyone else got an opinion please ?travelover0

shiny are bad for showing up fingerprints on the screen0

They are nice screens, as long as you keep them clean.

They're supposed to improve the contrast and make the blacks deeper. However they're not very practical when it comes to reflections."...IT'S FRUITY!"0

I have a "crystal bright" screen and it looks very smart. I had a nasty shock when I saw myself - it is like a mirror! It is a matter of personal taste: you do need to be careful with sunlight.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?
