Turned down for Avon due to poor credit

Hi guys,

I posted a couple of weeks ago that I needed a second job due to my other half losing his job. I applied for Avon - got a couple of orders. Then was told that I could not do this because of my credit. Now I have to tell people in work that I cannot place their orders :(

Anyway - I've got lots of spare order forms if anyone is interested PM me and I can send them to you.

Thanks

Sarah

They do credit search you for Avon because they are effectively giving you credit, it also appears on your credit report.

Sorry to hear you've been refused foo fan, hope you find something else soon :)

    Hi Sarah

Oh dear i'm very sorry to hear this.
I didn't see your original post a few weeks ago.
I was in a similar postion eg needed a second job
    to increase my income.
I looked at alot of things and found a silver jewellery
    company called Avantgarde Jewellery.
The thing i liked about Avantgarde was that there wasn't any
complicated start up process which i found with alot of the
    other things i looked at.
I needed something that i could do
almost straight away and was very affordable.
Alot of these companies have expensive start up costs
which makes it difficult, but they were and are completely different.
I'm happy to send you their some details so you can
contact them and look into it yourself.
I suspose in a sense it will be similar to what you were doing
with Avon except selling silver jewellery.
They didn't do any credit checks on me.
I'm not a consultant for them so don't know all the in and outs
but from my own experiences there are many ins and outs so
to speak ( or very few anyway that suited me just fine)
i'll be happy to pass their details on to you.
I found them really friendly and easy to deal with and i'm now
up and running and doing well selling their jewellery Sarah.

    Hi solitude

Just interested to know about this - are they direct selling like party plan or are they wholesalers where you buy a bulk amount and then sell it on?

    Hi Moonbeam

As i understand they are not direct sellers but manafacturers and wholesalers. They supply party plan businesses so when i buy from
them i'm cutting out the middle man so to speak and buying direct
    from the source .
I buy on a wholesale basis and sell it on.
As they make all their own silver jewellery they don't have high
miminum orders. The other companies i looked at were not manafacturers
and buy from Avantgarde so tend to have large outlays for this reason.

I'm not a consultant for them.
I was looking around trying to find something as i needed to increase my income. The snag was all i could find was companies that had expensive
initial outlays and complicated start up procedures.
I needed something affordable and simple.
They let me buy as little as 60.00 which no other company was able
to match.I also love silver jewellery ( they also sell body jewellery
which has become my main selling line now)
I looked on their websites and selected the products i wanted ordered them and received my goods within two days
There were no rules and regulations and it meant i could buy a very small amount and sell what i wanted, where i wanted and to who i.
I couldn't afford the amounts that Miglio and others were requesting and i felt weighed down by all the dos and don't of these companies.
When i contacted Avantgarde they just said 'have a look at our websites, tell us what you would like and we will get it off to you straight away.'I couldn't believe how simple it was.
They have got collections and at present their catalogue collection is all online.I think the idea is that you have a look at their website and decide whatyou want to order.
The way i saw it Moonbeam was as 60.00 was such a small outlay if for some miracle i couldn't sell the jewellery i bought i could always use is for birthday/christmas gifts for friends and family at the very least
In the event one customer bought the whole lot.
When i saw that the jewellery was popular and sold well
i increased my orders and they have got larger and larger.
I would not have been in a position to spend hundreds of pounds at
the begining and then have a whole host of rules and regulations
as to where and who i could sell it to.
I just wanted to buy a small amount and then sell it on.
I'll send you an email with their details and you can contact them directly
    if you like Moonbeam.

Just to clarify that Miglio are not supplied by avantgarde - they have no middle man either as we design, manufacture and sell in-house. We have no minimum order either as a result. I'm not sure what party plan companies avantgarde are supplying as I haven't seen their jewellery elsewhere.
  • Hi Moonbeam

I have looked at the Avantgarde Jewellery and to me their items seem expensive with the cheapest item appearing to be a resin brooch at £48.00. I just wondered how you managed to order a selection of items from them for a total of only £60. Do they offer discounts to traders?

    Many thanks.
  • Hi Moonbeam

Sorry I meant Solitude! You can tell I'm new around here can't you? Humble apologies all round.
