Mortgage Query - Payment Holiday

Hello there
My partner and I recently decided to split and as a result I am now saddled with the house and entire mortgage. On his leaving we've a few small debts to clear up and I've just started a nine-month temporary contract role. As a result I'd like to take a payment holiday to cover this so I can get back on my feet independently.
I've been in pretty consistent temporary work since January, but I asked the bank a few months ago and they said they needed a job offer letter to give me a mortgage break. I do have an offer letter for this nine month role, but it's through a temporary recruitment agency. I have a guarantor mortgage. I've not spoken to the bank yet, but do you think with the letter from the agency, a letter from my guarantor and a character reference they might still allow me a mortgage break?
I've never missed a payment or sought a break before.
Thanks
