Soaking split peas?

I'm cooking a ham for dinner tonight and my OH has just informed me he would like pease pudding too. Normally when I make it I soak the peas overnight, would it be okay to just cook them straight from the packet or do they have to be soaked?

If I am short of time I put the peas in a large bowl with boiling water and neuk them in the microwave before using for soup or pease pudThe time will come when you have everything but time.0

I never soak split peas - they can be cooked straight from the packet, and they don't even take that long to cook."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0

I only soak split peas if I am going to do them in the slow cooker. They don't need soaking if cooked on the hob or in a pressure cooker.0
