Yes, the thread has been merged, hence the apparent duplication.
    Can I help?

personally i would also avoid lexmark like the plague. overpriced printers, extortionate prices for the cartridges (even the compatables are overpriced).

i would chose epson or HP every time. (epson for small, cheap cartridges, HP are more expensive but also bigger. either way, its swings and roundabouts..but they are consistently better value than lexmark).

I have a Lexmark Z55, printheads can be refilled. I agree though to purchase new heads they are very expensive.

I wished the buck stopped here as I could use a few.

rdwarr well spotted...if you had bought real people magazine 2 weeks ago you would have also seen an article by me called Bonkers for Bargains..they are going to pay me £300 for it{just incase you want more clippings about me}....And I must confess this morning I just bought another 30 ink cartidges from currys {all there stock] for £30[which would normally only pay for 2 cartridges]...But I did at least ask them if it was Ok first to do so as I was going to sell them on ebay..and they had no problem with that ...

I already had a Lexmark Z617 - which is the model they're selling at £19.97 in my local Tesco (I bought it at £35 a few months ago) and bought one at £19.97 today as it's cheaper than buying the cartridges. Also it gives me a free back-up machine if this one goes wonky!

As to reliability the Lexmark I bought in 1997 with my first "proper" PC is still going strong at my Mothers. My last 2 printers were Epson and absolute c**p.

The thing about Lexmark in general and this model in particular "Everyday Colour Print" they say on the box. As long as you don't need high quality for photos it will work day in, day out.

I like the simplicity f the machine - it has 1 yes just the 1 button on it and it speaks to you when printing or ink runs out.
