Im going bankrupt on monday, the nearer it gets the more worried im getting.i have got a cashminder account with the co-op, there is £650 in that is housing benefit for my rent which is due the week after, is it a good idea to take this out so the judge and the OR cant take it.I have been told that they will take all the money in the account, as well as been told thay wont touch it.
I have also just read you need more than 1 copy of the statement of affairs depending on which court you go to. Is this true? I am going to the Sheffield court.
I have got life insurance does anyone no what will happen to that?
Hope someone can help,please

Cant say for sure whether OR would take your money for your creditors, sure one of the others on here will be able to reassure you.
We drew out most of what was in hubbies account just before BR for similar reasons, told OR what had done & why and had no problems.
Ring the court and check whether they want copies of SOA, we just needed 1 copy for our own records.
Life insurance, been told by OR that not a problem, as long as it's a sensible one and not paying £75 per month. Hubbie's OR was very nice and said you were allowed to have normal stuff like life insurance, even had a sense of humour and said "obviously if anything happen to you and hubbie benefitted from my life insurance they would be interested" - but we're a odd lot in Suffolk !! :-)
Good luck, try not to worry too much, it really will be ok and the people at the court & the OR will surprise you at how nice they are.DMP Mutual Support Thread Member : 3180 -
I have just got back from court, im not the most experienced on here but ill give you some input, firstly court is a lot easyer than it seems so dont worry, i asked the same question to the or while i was on the phone to them before, you can take the money out of your account as you need it for rent / payments, they write to the bank anyway so it will be a couple if days before they recive notification of you being bankrupt, I was told on here that you need three copies but was also was advised to check with the court as each one is different, i checked and they said I did not need copies, but check with your court just in case, dont know much about life ins so cant help you there, but im sure someone on here will tell you as they are a helpfull bunh.
all will be fine

Hi as Mr John says the OR will not take the money you have for rent. HOWEVER sometimes accounts get frozen by the bank and it can take a few days to get it sorted out (this is just a case of administration and not because anyone wants your money) and so it can be a good idea to take enough cash out to cover anything you will need to pay for in the first week.Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

I had a co-op account opened before br, my housing benefit goes in early in the month and sits there until the rent goes out on the 1st, I explained this to the OR and they were happy with this. They wrote to the co-op to say they weren't interested in my account. My account was never frozen and I have continued to use it as normal. I did take some cash out prior to br to pay for groceries and I had no dd's due to come out for a couple of weeks after br so felt I had time to sort things out if the account was frozen at all.0

Hi Lottie and welcome! I'd be on the safe side and take out all your money before you go BR as technically the account will belong to the OR until he says he has no interest in it. Phone the court you are going to and ask how many copies they require.
Good luck!

Hi Lottie & welcome.
Again I would maybe pay your rent a week early & get it over & done with....would`nt risk the Bank freezing the account as may take a week or 2 to unfreeze it.
Good luck,
