He cannot be an indpendent advisor and work for Norwich Union.

Which was it, an independent or an employee or representative of Norwich Union?

When did you buy the policy?

If its their own company & sold NU policy then its likely they were IFAs , although possible they were NU appointed reps ( they did have some App reps that they did not actually own)

NU should be able to confirm which -

If IFA the FSCS should take over ( although problems if pre 1988 policy) http://www.fscs.org.uk/

If App Rep - NU should deal

Hi, these guys were selling any endowment, I believe, and Ive found out were not employed by N/U, so any Idea where I stand, they have gone out of business as they had to keep paying out for bad advice.

End of the road I'm afraid. Consumer protection didnt come in until 1988 and whilst some insurers will consider complaints before that date, IFAs didnt have to.

I can't find you on the FSA register and can't work out why you call yourself an 'advisor' when every other IFA spells it 'adviser'.

There are few flaws in what you have posted.

You dont have any details to find me on the FSA register so that is no surprise. The site doesnt allow promotions and my username got changed when the board moved from YABB to VBB and doesnt reflect who I am, more the location. Thanks for pointing out the spelling mistake. That was a copy and paste of someone elses sig which I modified but never looked at the spelling that closely. Proof reading has never been my stong point.

Please feel free to point out the flaws. I am sure others will be interested to hear how you can claim against an out of business IFA on a policy commenced in 1986.
