Jo, sorry you're worrying - as B&TB says, lots of hugs. You've got the debt counsellor contacting you from CCCS next month, okay. I don't know anything about that side, but what I *do* know about is worry!
Have you done everything you can to prepare for that meeting? I don't actually know what they want, but, for instance, things like, getting your paperwork in order so they can see your situation quickly, cutting out unnecessary direct debits, that sort of thing (magazine subscriptions and stuff like that).
The other thing to recognise is that worry is *excess adrenalin* - and use it to your own good - things like, go onto the Old Style board on here, find out how to get food on the table more cheaply. And do a fast walk sometimes, burn the adrenalin off that way, that might well help you sleep better as well.
Have you kept a spending diary yet? Just keep one for a couple of weeks, and write down everything you spend - that gives you knowledge of how your money is actually going through your fingers, and that gives you more power over your situation, you can say "nope, I won't buy that newspaper/bar of chocolate/sweet little scrunchie".
Hope this helps - posting on here can help too!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hi Jo:j
I'm currently with CCCS on a DMP that started on April 1st this year. It's horrible having to wait for your appointment I know. When I contacted CCCS in Feb there was a waiting time of approx 2 weeks and it felt like a lifetime! You just feel the need to get everything up and running once you've made the brave steps to contact someone and to be told you need to wait a month is the last thing you want to do isn't it!
Do as CCCS have advised and make your token payments to your creditors and sit tight for your appointment until then use the time collating all the paperwork you need re balances etc so you are fully prepared when they do call you.
Take care and trust me once you have spoken to CCCS and are clear with the best way forward you will feel like the whole world has been lifted from your shoulders. I don't know anyone who wouldn't back me on that one who've had dealings with CCCS.
Take care and keep us posted

hi thank you very much for your comments, can i ask md why you went for a dmp rather than iva? i hope you dont mind me asking and would understand if its private
thank you xxx0 -
Hi
Like all the others have said, you have come to the right place. My understanding is that as long as you make the token payments to your creditors and make sure they know you are in contact with CCCs you will be fine.

Hi
I wasn't offered an IVA as wasn't eligible - for whatever reason. My options were bankruptcy, which at the moment isn't right for me and my young family or a DMP. I also decided that if I went DMP route and it didn't work out still have another option....had I gone for bankruptcy there'd be nothing else.
Good luck
