UK equivalents to US jeans sizes help please!

Hi,

I have found some jeans I really love on an american website, they have size 29, 30, 31 and 32 but I don't know what the uk equivalents are. I have tried googling but can't seem to find anything for clothes that match these numbers (it's all 4, 6, 8 ect) so I'm really hoping someone on here will be able to help me? Their size guide on the site hasn't been much help!

Here is a link to the jeans if this helps http://www.shopnastygal.com/products/new/clothing/bottoms/Bleach-And-Destroy-Jeans-%252d-Thrashed.html

Thanks in advance!

Feline Princess

The website sizing seems a little vague - I would email the customer service dept on:

Hi FelinePrincess, I have a few pairs of american jeans ranging from a 27 to 29 and they fit me as a uk size 8, not much help but might give you a rough guide.
Thank you for this site Martin

Having bought jeans at a number of US-based outlets (Gap, Levi's etc), I would hazard a guess that the measurements you've described are waist sizes in inches. Therefore you might need to measure your waist in order to see which ones would fit you.

As a guideline though, I *think* but am not sure that a size 28 waist is about a size 8. If you're near a Topshop they sell their jeans in waist measurements but print the sizes on the label as well, so it might help to go look there.

ETA: Have had a quick look on the American Gap website and from what I can gather a 28 inch waist is a UK size 10, a 29 inch waist is a UK size 12, a 30 inch waist is a UK 14 and a 31 inch waist is a UK 16.

  • Thanks for your replies! I have ordered a size 29, so fingers crossed they will fit!
