Percentages

If child No 3 increases the cost from 20% to 25% and child No 2 from 15% to 20%, why isn't child No 1 just 5%?

Is 10% for the ex wife?

Certain costs are fixed. Therefore a sliding scale would seem appropriate.

I agree more children cost more, but think about it if the couple were still together:

Child 1 comes along and x% of income is spent on them. Child 2 comes along, costs will go up, but other than child benefit (keeping it simple here) income does not. More children can mean a larger house is required and larger household bills, but as the income stays the same, the couple would simply have the same to spend irrespective of how many children there are.

Put into csa perspective, the cost should be the same % irrespective of number of children involved.
