Cannot Remember who sold me my Endowment - can I claim?

New poster here. I really need some help, please.

I have a Standard Life Endowment Policy which I took out in August 1988. I have just had another Yearly statement telling me (again) that there is a high risk of a shortfall.

Details are:
Target Amount (life cover): £13,245
Sum Assured: £4305.00
Declared Bonuses: £2964.06
(Bonus this year was a measly £25.46 - in 1994 it was £236!)
Current Value: £4938.60
Monthly Payments £18.63
Paid in to date: £3950 ish
Shortfall stated: Min £3585 Max £5565

The main problem I have is that I CANNOT REMEMBER who advised me about this endowment  - as I am a bit of a 'Mortgage Tart'. It could have been Nat West or Abbey National. I do think I need to know this info before I can claim misselling! How do I find this out? (I cannot find the paperwork - due to this being a LONG time ago AND I've been divorced - the paperwork has mysteriously 'dissappeared')

However, I DO remember that I was looking forward to the extra money when I finished the 25 years (which will be Aug 2013), so I do feel I have a case.

Can anyone help me please?

Regards,

Mary T

Complain to Standard Life, they will respond very quickly with the name and address of the person that sold you the policy if it wasn't them. That's exactly what I did and they also wrote to the seller instructing them to respond to me within 14 days!

Or save yourself a bit more work and phone them up and ask them and then fire the letter off to the firm they tell you.

In the complaints to the two providers I have made, both times the provider has forwarded the complaints to the sales firms who have reponded quickly
