KS3 SATS - Year 9

For those with children in year 9 at high school, they are doing Macbeth for their english SATs (think this is throughout the country and not just regional). In todays Daily Telegraph they are giving away free copies of Macbeth. Might be useful for revision.

Might be different depending on which part of the country you are from but I would have thought it would be the same. At the meeting we had in February, they told us that it was Macbeth.

Schools select one of four Shakespeare plays to teach for the SATs.
Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Richard III and Twelfth Night are the current plays with Macbeth going out after this year.

This is a useful educational site but it might be a bit late for your youngsters, you don't want to be overloading them :(

My daughter has also got "much ado about nothing" she'snot very happy about this
thinks shakespeare is a load of rubbish!!
  • Have to agree with her. I think the same. Why in this day and age, with the wealth of modern children's fiction, do they still have to do Shakespeare.

By the way I'm a school librarian by trade ;)

Went to see Richard III at the West Yorkshire Playhouse on Saturday night and was quite surprised by the number of children in the audience. Now I know why! It was a brilliant production which I would have thought any intelligent fourteen year old would enjoy. It's touring a few northern theatres inc Liverpool, Salford, Newcastle and Glasgow and is a Northern Broadsides production if that's any use to anyone revising.

We went to see Shakespeare for children doing Macbeth last month. I was surprised at how many children were there also.
