what different insurances do you dfw's have

at the moment we just have car insurance with the amount of debt we have should we take out something like contents insurance just in case something happens or would we be better saving the money from this sort of thing and put towards out debts

We have buildings & contents ( inc accidental damage) Ive got life assurance, including poor health provision. No way in hell Id get rid of these.

Ive got rid of my mobile phone insurance though. ( 5/99 a month- pointless)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Just imagine what would happen if like me your house burnt down, you are not allowed back in because of the fumes and also the danger,it's the middle of the night and now have nowhere to sleep, you have to find a hotel for the night,70quid? then the reality hits the next day,no clothes or shoes,150 quid? then you have to find somewhere to live for the next 6 months while yours is being rebuilt, deposit 1500 quid?(sorry no pound sign on this pc)then the month's rent up front 700?you now have no food, plates, cups, absolutely NOTHING,where is the money going to come from? even with insurance you have to pay upfront until interim payments come through, then at the end you get nothing compared to what you have spent, god knows how you would cope without.Sorry to go on but you don't realise the extent of what can happen until it does.

  • Assume your house is covered by DH's employer. Do follow other peoples advice for contents insurance. Accidents do happen. For instance restocking a freezer after loss of power can be quite expensive.

yes house is covered so anything that happened we would be moved to a new house asap (untill then they pay for a hotel) you can also get basics in the house (furniture such as beds, sofa's etc and they do provide other essentials if needed bedding and so forth) will know just to look for contents insurance
