Hi I have a quick question, me and my OH are going bankrupt in a week! and I am currently paying my electric by direct debit, just had a bill through showing we owe £400 so they are increasing the direct debit, not a problem for us, but I am wondring if this £400 has to be included in our debts and if it is will the electricity company possibbly install a pre pay meter because of this! I have a family of three and no gas supply so it would be a disaster if this happened any ideas !

Hi,
All debts have to be included but if you consider that you are paying a monthly amount which covers the up and downs of summer / winter (budget plan) then you might choose to leave it out as an ongoing supply / service cost.
If you do list it then the provider MAY insist on a pre pay meter or a deposit, allthough many just carry on with their normal method.
You wouldnt get in to any 'bother' if you left it out on that basis.

Hi. You don't have to put the electric bill in the BR pot, if you can keep paying at the increased level then do that. If you put the bill into the pot the electric company write off the debt and you start with a clean sheet. I did the latter with no problem and no PP meter ( Atlantic).
