Ocado on demand - worth it?

I am undecided about whether to join the Ocado on demand scheme, basically £9.99 a month then you can get your shopping delivered for free at anytime of the week, and get Christmas priority booking slots.
As my weekly shop doesn't usually come to £75 I end up paying £5.99 per time for delivery. So if I have one delivery a week I would technically save £14 a month if I went with on demand membership.
Does anyone use Ocado on demand and is it worth it? I am debating whether to switch to Waitrose for the free delivery, but then the minimum spend with Waitrose is higher, they don't tesco price match and won't do the internet only prices that Ocado do.
Hmm decisions.

I use to shop with ocado and thought that all there items were a fair price as they price match with tesco, boy was I wrong. I use mysupermarket.com now and compare my shopping between tesco, sainsburys, asda and ocado, and for my big monthly shop sainsburys always comes out the cheapest, this month my shop was £142 if I had got it from ocado it would have been just over £200. Personally I would change where I shop if I was you, put the money you save to a treat for yourself.0

Depends where you start your shopping there will the cheapest one be..... Does it make sense:
With other words a £100 shopping at Tesco, will show as £110 ,£114 and £120 at the other 3.
A £100 shopping at Ocado will show as £110 ,£114 and £120 at the other 3.
Because you see the offers at the main page where your shopping is, this is why your shopping is cheaper.
I once compared them using no offers and no supermarket brands, and the results where...
I done it today too..removed any N/A product
List is:
1Kellogg's Corn Flakes 500g
1Shredded Wheat Honey Nut 500g
1Weetabix Bitesize 450g
1Douwe Egberts Real Coffee Cafetiere Medium Roast Blend 3 250g
1Nescafe Instant Coffee Granules 200g
1Crisp 'N' Dry Vegetable Oil 1L
1Flora Sunflower Oil
Tesco £15.71
Asda £14.91
Sainsbury £14.95
Ocado £15.66
As can see the difference is only £0.8 per £15
For a £150 shopping will be a £8 maximum.0 -

Only if you buy each of the items 10 times to turn £15 worth of shopping into £150.
An £0.8 per £15 difference on a few breakfast cereals, coffee and cooking oil does not mean that's what it will be on a real shop.0 -
Every week the offers will change who is best for yourself. Personally I prefer just to use one and over the year you will probably be just the same as the offers will balance out. Also I find it quicker, and therefore not wasting my time which is money, to just use one.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

We've used Ocado for a while now, and On Demand (or Delivery Pass as it is called from today) for almost a year.
They are soooo much better than Tesco's home delivery service. For one thing I think I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times that Ocado have substituted an item, and on the fingers of one finger the times they haven't been able to supply something.
Compare that with Tesco, who would substitute something almost every week (and usually the substitution would invalidate some multi-purchase offer - coincidence?)
With regards to the cost, I thought Ocado would be more expensive, so for the first couple of months I did the exact same shopping baskets on Tesco and Ocado. The total prices were usually within 5% of each other.
We've also just signed up to their Reserved feature - if you want your delivery same day/time each week it's quite good. It automatically generates your next weeks order, sends you an email and SMS to say it's done it, and then you have a week to go and modify it. It's still learning our preferences, so gets some things wrong (who uses 18 toilet rolls a week!) but it's getting there.0 -
I'd like to echo Eydon's comments. Ocado are by far the most reliable internet grocery shop in my experience. They also price match to Tesco on a huge range of things and have lots of offers. The website is clear, especially about things like price per kg and it's easy to use. Their customer service is second to none. I like to get my money's worth and I think I do with Ocado.
I have the On Demand service fully paid up for this year which made me a big saving. Even though my financial position has recently changed (for the worse!) I've no regrets about that.0 -
Been with Tesco for years, but I am totally fed up with them - I can't use my Electron. They were rubbish in the bad weather - I understand if the snow is bad, and accept that, but 2 of the 4 non deliveries in 10 days, were because the van broke down!!! I am housebound so you can imagine how i felt about that.
Anyway, because of recommendations on another site, I have tried Ocado this week - am very pleased with it all - no subs, pleasant driver, kept fully informed etc, and the food tastes great ( Waitrose Collab)!! We will see how they perform over the next few weeks, but so far so good.
I need to look at on demand as we shop every 2 weeks, but still looks worth it.
Oh and they accept Electron!0 -
I've just signed up to this as they were doing a special offer for an annual payment of £60 - I think it was £59 off!
I love Ocado - I have never had one late - even with the bad weather, and in fact he was an hour early last week. They have so much more variety than tesco and I love being able to order 'local' type items like the real cornish butter!
I only use Tesco if I run out of something as they are on the way home, but now I've signed up to the on demand, I can place a couple of orders a week without having to plan so early - to take advantage of the free delivery times, plus I don't need to worry about spending £75 - only £40 now:DNoli nothis permittere te terere

We were already shopping with Ocado when they launched their On Demand delivery service - signed up for a 12 month subscription at £8.99 a month in May 2009.
It works well for us. The minimum order is £40 and it's always 5 star service. They maintained deliveries to us during the recent bad weather - top marks for that.
Orders are picked and packed in their state of the art warehouse, which means that your shopping hasn't been prodded and poked in-store by other shoppers. (If you're curious about how it all works, search on YouTube for "Ocado" and watch the two videos "How Do They Do That!".)
Ocado delivered at 7.20 am this morning, there were no substitutions and everything had been put away by 7.40 am. Ooh my thread has resurrected itself.
Well I did actually sign up to it because I received a deal where on demand was £100 up front but every time I spent £80 I would receive a £10 voucher back (upto £100 worth) so in essence on demand is free.
I do one big shop a month and then smaller ones throughout the month. It works well. They were fab during the snow and made it through when no one else was so I am happy with them. They also don't quibble if I ever want a refund for anything and I have had countless freebies, wine etc
