Best spot for ... Higland Cows
Any tips on where to go in Scotland to be sure to see some highland cows ?
Ideally wandering around ... (not like at the zoo)
I was told Kerrera Island, just off Oban.
I have seen some each time I've be travelling up North - but this time will be with a 9 year old and want to make sure to see some!
Thank you!

Pollock estate in Glasgow has a herd. Entry to the estate is free.0

I don't know whwre you are, but there are always 2 at Blairgowrie and I was at Rothiemurcus Estate in Aviemore a few weeks ago and there was a whole herd on the way down to the Loch
I absolutely LOVE highland cows****************************0 -
i took a wrong turning on my way to oban a few months ago and ended up on a single track road there were plenty of them freely roaming around with young calfs and sheep all over the road, they did leave plenty of mess on the road aswell,it was stinking! but they look great....work permit granted!0

On Riverside Drive in Dundee - they are kept by the council, park at the Cafe next to the bridge and cycle along to see them - it's a nice cycle path, and much better than pulling the car over and parking - which isn't allowed on that road!;)
There's a pretty blonde one - I think he's the cutest. Passed there yesterday and there are a few heavy horses in the next field too.
editted to add - they are quite close to Sensation the science centre and Discovery, Captian Scott's ship, so it could be turned into an educational trip from wherever you're staying if you're here on holidays. USe Tesco vouchers for Sensation and the ship.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I was wondering about the Dundee coos - I think they used to be moved around different parts of the city. Are they always at Riverside now? Must pop down & say hello to them!0

Highland Cows?
Best spot for them is usually at the Highland Dancing!!!0 -
They're always there when we go past Riverside - normally on the way to see family along the Perth Dual, so yes, the Dundee Heelin' Coos seem to be there all year round. The heavy horses aren't there all year round though.
We used to visit the ponies at Forthill before the school took over the ground for its extension.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Just beware it there are calves with them, the mothers can be fiercer than any bull.

Just because I am surrounded by FOOLS does not make me wise. :j0 -
The Dundee ones are behind a fence - nowhere to get to through the field, so no need to walk through the field.
Great point though. Those horns are vicious looking.:eek:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
