Oil on bedlinen

Hiya,
I rely on washing soda srystals to get most things clean (my Dh is a maintenance engineer, so somethimes he gets in a similarly filthy state!).
If I do use a laundry bleach, which is rare, I like ACE liquid. It seems good at stubborn stains and I think it is more gentle than a lot of other products.
If your OH has skin probs, they may be made worse by car oil, diesle etc (and ex of mine had the same probs). Does he use a barrier-cream at work to protect his skin at all?
Glad you got a partial solution anyhow, and are not now ashamed of your washing LOL!

I have rubbed sheets and other articles of clothing with Swarfega (your OH will probably have some of that seeing as he's a mechanic), that usually works on colours. I would avoid white sheets, though.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

Another vote for Vanish Crystal White. My DH is also a mechanic, and even worse has white uniform shirts  but the Vanish on 60 degrees shifts everything except gear oil.0

White uniform! What bright spark came up with that one? OH's are dark blue, but I don't worry about them. They're meant for getting mucky, so as far as I'm concerned they can stay that way.
Sounds like it might be worth getting some Vanish crystal white though. I hadn't considered it, because I've had the pink oxyaction before, but couldn't see that that made a blind bit of difference to anything. It felt like I was just putting it in the machine for my own amusement.
FE, I don't doubt that all the nasty stuff that OH comes into contact with at work does his skin no good at all, but I don't think there's much that can be done. He wears gloves, and barrier cream/ moisturiser goes on every evening, and at work too for all I know.
Jojo, unfortunately I think if he exfoliated, then he probably wouldn't have any skin left! His eczema is really quite bad. He says it's just one of those things, and that it will get better again with time, but I'm not sure. Totally with you on the smell of mechanics (most of the time!). It's the engine oil. Engine oil smells lovely, it's just hell of a grubby.
Ooh, and as a bonus, the washing soda got rid of the yellow suncream stains I had on a white cotton vest top. So, I was pleased about that.0
