Hi, I am cutting teeth with the bankruptcy prospect, it has been a long 24 hours educating myself.
It is highly likely I am going to file for BR. I am currently working out my SOA, will be posting for opinions on this when I'm done.
For now, I have a really urgent question. I am self employed as a childminder and I have just read somewhere that chidminders cannot operate after BR? I'm bricking it now because that's my sole income and whilst I could find work, I would then have to arrange childcare. Also, I am separated, soon to be divorced and will be moving out of family home when it's sold/RP, whatever comes sooner. I am trying to limit the effects to my daughter as with all the other changes she is having to cope with of late.
I know personal circumstances don't come into it-the law is the law but I just wanted to make my situation clear to anyone that may be able to help.

Never heard of that one before. Being BR is not a criminal offence so it will never appear on your CRB check. Its not listed anywhere I have read over the years, but I would double check anyway. Contact OFSTED Monday AM and see what they have to say.0

Thanks for your quick reply. I will ring them Monday first thing.
Am now wondering if anyone else in the know will come along and put me out of my misery! There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
Nope, never heard of that either, I would imagine its just like any sole trader, stop for the day and then start up again then next
Best thing to do is ring the insolvency service helpline

Dollparts - I don't think you have anything to worry about. Like skylight said, you haven't committed a crime.

mmm.. sounds a bit amateurish to me and they seem to have mixed up BRO's with SOD'sHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -

That website looks like it wants to flog IVA's ...just my humble opinion.;) You need to be wary of some of these sites.
Try asking same question on this site. Different style to this one but good for fact finding.
Have you searched Govt Website?0 -
Hmm, ok will have to wait til tommorow then I guess. I just googled 'bankrupt childminder' and that's the only thing that really seemed relevant.
