Grrr...I'm so cross...

Hi everyone,

I'm so cross, just have to get this off my chest...

It was my dad's 60th during the week and I had ordered him a dell laptop which was despatched on tues according to their website. He isnt having his party until tomorrow as my mum was in hospital so it didnt matter that it want here for his actual birthday as long as it came for tomorrow. Anyway, was out this evening doing shopping and on the way home my mum rang to say that a woman had just came to the door with the laptop saying it had been delivered to her and she had opened it before realising it wasnt hers. Problem was she gave it to my dad so no suprise for him then. What has really made me mad though is that it was delivered and signed for despite having my name and address on the box. In addition to this the box was then ripped open. Dell's phone lines arent open at this time of night but I am so mad  Any suggestions as to what I should do or am I am just overtired? Thanx for listening :o

Sounds like it's the courier and the neighbour, rather than Dell. Maybe she was expecting something else and you'll get her new clothes or TV tomorrow

If it isn't damaged, then I wouldn't worry about it too much, calm down a bit, but then when cooled off I'd still ring them up and tell them that their delivery agents are incompetent and wide open to fraud, why don't they use people that can navigate and read, what would have happened if they'd delivered it to someone who hadn't brought it round, it's spoiled your birthday surprise etc

With Dell you can trace where your parcel is from the time it's sent off until the time it's delivered to you. You usually know when it left your nearest delivery depot and expected time of arrival (if I remember correctly).

I hope your dad isn't too disappointed in getting his surprise early. :)

I dont see what Dell can do about it! It isnt their fault - its down to the courier and the neighbour! Well down to the neighbour really - she should of realised that the parcel wasnt hers and brought to to the correct house rather than tearing the box open!

Thanks guys, I have calmed down somewhat now :) I know that its not Dells fault really but I think I should inform them that their chosen courier is at fault. It could have been delivered to someone not as honest as everything seems to be still in the box. I guess the main problem is that my dad's suprise has been spoilt and my mum is also p***ed off :(

I went to see the woman who brought the box round. She explained that they had also been waiting on a computer being delivered and that her husband had ordered it and was away until this evening. She said that the courier had not asked her name or checked the address and that she had signed for it without checking. The box had been opened along with the two other boxes delivered on the same day when her husband came home and it was only when they opened it that they realised the mistake. I believe what she says but am still p***ed at the courier.

That's not right at all. I wouldn't be happy at a courier leaving anything like that with a neighbour. It's fortunate your neighbour is honest! And it's all the worse because he didn't even ask if she minded taking in a parcel for you.

They're not exactly a neighbour but the next road down which has the same prefix as my mum and dads but not the same after bit (I cant think of the correct terminology). The only thing they got right was the house number. The courier delivered to completely the wrong address, my sister had been waiting in for the last two days for the delivery so she could hide it from my dad but they just messed up.

theyre rubbish courier delivery peeps, twic ethsi week ive had things whcih should have been signed for shoved thru my latter box, they must have just forget my signature on teh pad, and another time a courier guy delivered my gig tickets to the flat next door (its s wee bit confusing coz theyre maisonettes so my front door is at teh back but i do have a big number on my door and theres a sign next to teh tunnel with my number and an arrow and also, my front door looks liek a front door and teh next door's back door- hsi front door is sctually at teh front if you get wheat i mean!- is just a plain back door whcih is held on by a padlock!) teh fella next door kept my tickets so i never got them and teh courier company had to sort me out some new ones, when they realised that i wasnt a mr!

Well, if the other people's one comes as well, that's definitely above average.

Don't be tempted to re-use a computer box to send else something in; it stands a good chance of being lost in the system
