Holiday capsule wardrobe - where do I start??

Evening all.

Me and my friend are off on a caravan holiday next Monday. We go every year and I always always end up taking way to many clothes, and end up not even wearing half of them!

Does anyone have any idea how sort out my clothing so that I only really take what I need? It's obv tricky being this country as we never know what the weather's going to be like , so have to take a fair few different pairs of shoes too. Along with that I also have to take towels, food etc (we've found in the past that shops on the sites charge a fortune for food) and I'm not sure where to start!

Thanks.

  • Firstly, what kind of activities will you be doing? And what will you be doing in the evening? and what do you normally wear?

Plan your outfits, so that you have seven differnt day combinations.

Start with day 1, e.g linen trousers with a t-shirt and sandles. Use the linen trousers again maybe on day 3, with a different t-shirt. Make sure all your colours harmonize then add a few accesories to have a bit of fun with. Take a nice cardi/sweater for warmth and a rainmac is probably a must!!

Flip flops/crocs would be handy if it rains or when the grass is wet!!

Seriously, if you're mooching around the site when it's wet, it's much easier to towel-dry feet and rubber flip flops than try to dry out shoes/trainers (meaning you can get away with packing fewer pairs 'just in case'!) Also if you wear shorts/cropped pants you won't get that horrendous water-soaking-up-the-legs-of-the-jeans business. Once again, legs are easier to dry than jeans! Thinner cotton/linen trousers will be easier to dry off than jeans too.

I'm sure the sun is going to shine though!!

As far as towels go, I reckon the more you take, the more you'll use! Depends how 'basic' the caravanning holiday is to be!
