An org like M&S will have an HR department that will only give a factual reference, start and end dates, attendance and probably not much more.
You can't count on this. Unless you have any experience of the department, thats just heresay.
Large NHS organisations who get sent reference requests will often send the request to the old manager to fill it in, meaning a fuller reference is given.

Usually these days only a skeleton reference is asked for and only the facts given as ex employers are anxious about being sued for libel. If you just walked off the job and didn't give a reason whose to know why you did it? I know plenty of people who freaked out at work and walked away due to stress, bullying and pressure (I was a Union rep). Strictly speaking you didn't just disappear anyway as you told them you were going. You didn't get a warning either as disciplinary procedures have to follow due process. As you left before that process could conclude, or even start, then I don't see that you have a warning and any reference that says so should be questioned by yourself
I don't think you will hear much about it and if you do M+S will probably just ask you for your side of the story. Just enjoy your life and do the best you can at your new jobThe World come on.....0
