Help.... Looking for a morgage.

Hi,
Im after a bit of advice (well really its a lot)
My husband and I are trying to get a morgage but like most people today we have a couple of defaults. We were recently contacted by someone who said they could probably help. We have had emails sent to us from Roger J Preece FNAEA @ Principal Mortgage Services Ltd, Worcs. However his email is throbbingdonkey ?
He has been in touch and told us he has found us a morgage and is coming out to see us at home on thursday. We know the property we want, we have a price, we just need a morgage. At the apoointment he is expecting a payment of 400.00. (for a survey to be carried out on the property).
The morgage were being considered for includes a large deposit about 20000.00, then 17 years at a considerably low payment about 350.00 on a 82500.00 morgage (rough figures). I am now concerned as handing over 400.00 to someone seems like a good idea if we get a morgage, but if we stand to be duped !!
Weve had a look at lots of websites (probably to many to be honest).
If anyone can advise us id be really grateful.

Thanks for your help
Tammy:confused:

    Tammy, find your own broker.

Don't use one that finds you.

Do you really trust the professionalism of ThrobbingDonkey@whatever.com? While some might consider personal benefits of such a liaison as worthwhile, I really wouldn't enter in to a financial transaction with this person!

Try Yellow Pages, www.unbiased.co.uk and www.yell.com or ask friends for recommendations locally. Once you've found one, google the name to see if there are any adverse comments and then make a decision from there.

Most people have a clean credit history. How much are your defaults, what are they for and how old are they? This information may help some of the mortgage advsiers on the board guide you better.

Cancel - find your own broker.

I doubt you'll be duped. But this guy is clearly unprofessional. Go elsewhere.

Is the payment quoted for a repayment mortgage?
