...why do they want to know where the money came from for my BR Petition? The letter states its 'not a cause for concern' - but if it isn't why do they want to know!!!

No idea, but it's pretty standard, my OR asked me and my OH too before discharge.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

sometimes they collect data for the national statistics the usual stuff is what sector you work in, age, sex, ethinicity etc, maybe its something to do with that. especially as they have just introduced DRO's which are (partly) for people who cant afford the bankruptcy fees, just guessing but as they said it wasnt a cause for concern...Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -

wonder are they trying to find out if you used a credit card to pay for it...lol...I understood you couldn't do that....
perhaps they want to see who and how much you paid for it....what was the cost to you, could you have got it cheaper?
Have you paid someone £2k for it and that covers everything, meeting the OR, personal guidance through the BR and all negotiations for you.*
Perhaps you paid £5K to a family member to do it all for you (a bit over the odds methinks...lol) as a way to "dispose" of some of your wealth pre BR...
could be any number of things...something as simple as "did you have to borrow the money"
just out of curiosity...how much did your petition cost...and are you paying for a "fullservice" as described above*
Good luck with your BR

Because in certan cases they will repay this amount out of any assets first.0 -

I paid the full whack as not on benefits.
Mother-in-law gave me the money - not a loan though, she doesn't want it back. Not keen to put her name down on any forms though. And no-one got paid anything before BR, any money I had at the time (not a lot!) was kept for living expenses.BR 26th Jan 09 . . . Discharged 21/9/09 !!! :j:j:j0
