Comet Returns

Options
Hey i'm new here and I was just wondering whether someone could help me.

I brought a new laptop from comet on the 1st august and took out one of the finance options to buy now pay in 6 months. I took the laptop home and I found that it wasn't for me, it's slow got a pixel already dead and vista keeps playing up, I was wondering whether it was possible to take it back a choose a different laptop or cancel the policy and take out a new one on a different laptop or would I be given a replacement maybe even have it sent off for repair.

Could someone help me with this. Thank you!

  • I bought a laptop in late October and found it had a screen flicker problem. I took it back to the Old Kent Road store and ended up in a disagreement with a member of staff there. Basically they wouldn't give me a refund even though I had only bought the unit four days before and it seemed obviously faulty to me. Usually stores just give an immediate exchange or refund but I was offered neither.

You're covered under cancellation rights, as with any finance deal you have a minimum time in which to cancel (usually 7days) however, from memory I thought if you got finance face-to-face that you're exepmt because you could see the product and touch it before leaving the store. I'm sure someone who knows will confirm this but you can definitely cancel the agreement and similarly, you can return the laptop if you use the mis-sold element, i.e. salesperson was pushy etc.....

  • Hey, thanks for your replies. It's the 7th day today so i'm going to go to the store and see what I can do, surely with a couple of faults with the laptop they won't turn me around and say "goodbye" and I think I remember the salesperson saying I had 7 days to change my mind, but I hope they sort something out!

The dead pixel is industry standard and are allowed so many in certain area to be classed as none faulty. Speed if it performs for the spec you may not have anycome back. You have to allow x3 repairs to take place, but the dead pixel one is a none starter Im afraid. If you did it in store you dont have a cooling off period as its on retail premises
