direct debit mortgage payment/bankruptcy

hello,

anyone know if you pay a direct debit for your mortgage then you go bankrupt at court this day, would the payment get frozen or go through?

It takes a few days to a week for your bank to freeze your account, but not all banks will bother freezing/closing a basic account. Who do you bank with?

    Hi,

Direct debit will have left your account first thing that day so likely already gone. It takes OR a day or so to block accounts usually.

If you don`t want payment to go out...or you want to pay by other means then cancel ddr...draw cash before BR & pay via another method.

well i thought if i let the payment go out as usual, the OR can't
say i giving priority to my mortgage company...

if i make the payment early ie 2 weeks early surely would not look good?

Hi...If you are worried...make an online payment a day or so early & cancel ddr.

Alternatively get the mortgage co details & pay over the counter. That way payment for this month is made until you can change ddr over to post BR bank account.

If you are continuing with your mortgage then it won`t be seen as a priority payment...it is an essential living cost & the ORs allow those.

Your mortgage isn't included in your BR, you can continue paying it as normal and it won't be seen as favouring a creditor.
