here goes:
my dh has a son previous relationship then we together have dd & ds
csa have always been involved since dh son was born hes 13
a letter arrived today saying he has been moved on to new rules and will pay £45 per week which is fine we both agree that he should be paying but also £103 extra for arrears :mad: we really cannot afford to pay this we do not have this amount of dispossible income but who cares
the arrears stand at just under £9000 :eek: now heres is my problem we do not know how all these arrears have occured addmitedly dh is no good at sorting things but this amount of arrears are a shock he has been paying for years he knew there was some arrears but not that much, we have been asking for a breakdown of arrears twice by phone once by letter that happened to get lost!!!!!!!!
im after any advice that anybody can give on how to get info from them & also how to reduce the extra payment for the arrears
thank you

I cant understand though, how his case was moved to new rules, if he had accumulated such arrears. As far as I know, you can only change over if both parties agree, and that there were no outstanding issues.

When youi say new Rules, do you mean to C-Mecc or from CSA1 to CSA2?

The CSA themselves should tell you that, but on the assumption that his son is thirteen, then he should be on CSA1, which was replaced by CSA2 in March 2003.

As for getting all the info you seek, write to them under the data protection act:

... requesting all information stored by them on all media types, including postits!

How much was assessment before? Just that if you have moved from old rules to new rules it may be subject to phasing and could add to the amount to be paid

Hi sneggy .. definitely, its amazing how much mail can go 'missing' with this lot.

Please bear in mind, that they are way short of fullfilling their obligation in having the info sent to you within the required time scale ( 40 days I think), so don't hold your breath too long ... double, and some say triple, the amount of days to wait.
