Mortgage Refusal help

Hi

I rcently applied for a mortgage and was refused due to me having 2 late payments on different accounts over the last year. these were very small amounts and only occured as I forgot to pay them. I also have a few missed payments from 2006 - when I was a student and paid phones bills a couple of days late.

I never thought this would have such a effect on my credit history as I've always had money in my current accounts and have only been few days late each time.

I am now really depressed and don't know what to do as I have a 25% deposit for a house but can't get a mortgage. I also have a good job..

I am surpised you're having such a problem, who declined you and did you go to them directly or through a broker?
