Christening Outift - Help

I am having my baby boy christened in October (he will be roughly 4months old) I dont really like the frilly silky christening gowns with all the ruffles (much to my relatives dismay) Does anyone have any ideas what else i could christen my son in? I want him to look formal.
Also does anyone know of any places which sell nice dresses for the mum of the baby? Any dresses i seem to like seem far too formal or too "clubby" for a christening. Help!!
Also, i dont have a very high budget.

My friend had her little boy christened when he was a little bit older than yours and didn't like the idea of him in a dress and went instead for a very small page boy suit. Maybe four months is too young for that? It might be an option.
As for a dress for you, have you tried Ebay, they have some lovely things and might have something worn once to a wedding, for instance.0 -
As hes only little i personally dont think there is a need for fussy type outfits.Just a cute /smart normal type outfit is fine imo...he needs to be comfortable and will probably be passed round a lot.
Have a lovely day:beer: Am thinking of a new one:beer:0 -
Debenhams have some lovely christening outfits, & for boys they do a silk romper suit. I can't see them on the website, but they were all little Rocha. Half price every other week in their sales too.

Hi Nikki
My little boy was christened 2 weeks ago in the below
His Waistcoat and Trousers were from Monsoon (Normally not very MSE but had a friends 70% staff discount off)
His Shirt was from Next for £6
His Tie was from the baby stall on the local market for £3 (I have seen them on Ebay for a similar price too)
His shoes were also from the baby stall for £8 - I had a NIGHTMARE trying to find Boys black shoes (I think those are girls that I bought but he didn't know anyway :rotfl:)
I bought my dress from Matalan - totally agree with there not being manty suitable clothes - in the end I wore a plain black shift dress with a blue belt, blue flat pumps and a blue bag - I think the outfit cost me £19 in total all from Matalan0 -
hi my boy was christened last sunday i had the same problem as you trying to find a suit. i went on ebay and found a silk romper type suit with a hat altho we didnt use hat. it cost us 7.oo and 2.99 delivery from ebay and they are brand new with tags. he looked stunning. we had already bought him a little tuxedo from the metro centre at gateshead but it didnt fit him as he is a big baby. hth its worth a look0
