I stopped paying 11-12 months before BR. The only thing you need to look out for is the blue CCJ papers coming through the post. If you do get them you need to send in the Acknowledgement of Service within the specified time which will give you 14 more days. Then you need to say you are going to defend the whole amount - this will buy you loads more time - enough to go BR. What you don't want to do is ignore and get the CCJ.
