The war museum Duxford, cambridgeshire to be exact.. When I googled it came up with Stansted, would that be correct?

Need to from fly Befast..

Any cheap hotels or good B&B's near war museum?

Thanks

  • Yes, Stansted would be best as you can catch a train from the airport to Cambridge. There is also Luton airport nearby too.

Stansted is definitely the best choice, it's about 40 minutes away from central Cambridge but Duxford air museum is about 20 minutes outside of Cambridge, Stansted side. It would probably only take you 20-25 minutes to get there from the airport. I would book a B&B in Duxford so you avoid paying "airport" B&B prices but I don't really know of any I can recommend.

I liv e in Cambridge (well 4 miles from it), and although Stansted is nearer, Luton is still less than 1 hour away and a far better airport.

My sister lives just outside Cambridge and when we go to visit we always fly into Luton.

There is an express bus from Luton to Cambridge.

I guess everyone is different. I live in Cambridge and much prefer to fly out of Stansted and I used to work at Luton airport! Unless the price is vastly cheaper flying into Luton, I would say travelling distances/times would dictate that Stansted is a better option, especially as it is an internal flight.

I think the reason why we started flying into Luton was because my sister thought it was easier for her to get to. Apparently there are often roadworks around Stansted! I think we then just got used to booking flights to Luton!
  • Thanks everyone, just one more question, we will need car hire, where's best at Stansted to hire from?

i use travelsupermarket.com for our car rental - just booked for september from stansted and got our car rental for £68 for 5 days - half the price of what it would cost going via the cheapest company's own website.
    Worth a look!
