Gift Money

I know that an OR doesn't take kindly if you pay family and friends back and then go BR.

However, if they give you money before you have really thought hard about taking the step does the OR frown on that too?

Basically me and the OH have been talking about going BR since March but my parents, understandably, wanted us to try and pay our bills etc for a few months to see how we got on and not to rush into anything. (OH has a new job but much lower pay).

They have also given us spending money for our holiday (we paid for the holiday before OH lost his job) - two weeks in his dads campervan in wales, nothing flash and expensive!

When we get back we have to make some serious decisions so would the OR look at this money on our statement and ask why we didn't use it to pay bills (so far we are not in arrears with anyone but have been kindly given the money for food from my parents). Over the last few months we have had £2,000.

Surely we can't be frowed upon for trying - I would add this money has been given to us, its not a loan.

you shouldn't have any problems, they can do as they wish with their money, if they give it to you for a specific purpose, thats fine.
