N Power's Advertised Prices on Web Site
Hi all (First post!)
I have just been on N Power's website to check their electricity and gas prices.
The prices that I am paying do not agree with their official advertised prices on their web site. I have contacted them and both the N Power phone operators I spoke to claimed ignorance of the prices advertised online, the second couldn't even find the prices on the web page. It has been left to me to send a printed page of their own prices so that they can check them.
I am on their sign online tarriff. My last bill was 26th Jan and I paid 13.12p for first 728 kwh and then 6.4p for the rest. For gas I paid 3.165p for the first 4,572kwh and then 1.78p for the rest.(Prices exclude vat).
Firstly check what you are paying if with N Power.
Secondly bombard them with phone calls and letters until they get it through their heads that they should treat customers fairly and openly.
Thirdly, demand that they honour the prices.
The following is cut and pasted from their official prices page.

This is the crucial part although perhaps the "the" at the start should be replaced by "this".†The Sign On Line (SOL) tariff is only available to new customers signing up online and who pay by monthly Direct Debit,
This Sigin Online tariff is SOL4. You will be on a previous SOL tariff depending on when you signed up.
If you want to be on the above tariff you must switch providers, wait a few weeks then switch back.0 -
I've come across the same thing. I am currently helping my parents look for a cheaper supplier. Using energyhelpline I've come up with a cheaper option for them but the prices energyhelpline gave for their current gas price differed to what npower say they are. I spoke to someone at the energyhelpline who assured me that they they were given the current price for npower gas on the 16th of this month by head office. The electric price quoted was spot on. Think they will still change anyway as to change would have saved them approx £70 on their last quarterly gas and electric bills. £10 more than npower offer as a discount per year.0

Same here with power gen - read my recent post about thier tariffs!
I was so cross it made me post in here for the first time! They are screwing thier existing customers... From my experience with PowerGen they have multiply versions of teh same tariff, with different rates, depending upon when you joined them.
