Is it worth us consulting a IFA for a remortgage?

It's not totally straightforward, we need somewhere who will take tax credit/child benefit into consideration as income. My husband has taken a lower paid job lately...
Our current lender have point blank refused because we'd like to add some extra on, their loss...
The Halifax are fine with it but maybe an IFA could help get us a better deal? What do you think?
Thanks!

I wouldn't waste hundreds or thousands of pounds on IFA fees. If you can't get it on the net or the high street you can't afford it.0

Ok thanks! Was speaking to Halifax today and so long as the house valuation is ok they can go ahead. Might try Abbey for comparison.0

Personally I would use a mortgage adviser rather than an IFA. IFAs are predominantly financial planners and investment advisers. Most nowadays dont do mortgages but have an in house mortgage adviser. Those left still doing it could end up being jack of all trades, master of none. A mortgage adviser is doing mortgages all the time and therefore should be considered a specialist (experience and quality come into that as well).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

My IFA recommended me a mortgage advisor. didn't charge me any fee. very good deal and he did the leg work for me whereas as a bank would have expected me to traipse to the branch at the drop of a hat when they decided they wanted more info.Kavanne
