accommodation recommendation required - Aviemore

Can anyone recommend holiday accommodation in the Aviemore area? We are a couple with a 6 month baby and are looking for self-catering accommodation. We are looking for something quite nice as we plan on spending some time indoors as well as being out and about so need something larger than a shoebox and not too basic. ;)

TIA

we stayed here 2 years ago in a 2 bed chalet and they were decent standard and quite roomy. http://www.highrange.co.uk/

ALso italian restuarant on site which delivers pizza to your chalet - always a bonus!

There's now the huge aviemore highland resort but I can never see any deals, always very expensive.

Dont know whether you are sorted yet but we have stayed at a 'log cabin' in the woods above Aviemore. It is called Birkelund, at Dalnavert, nr Kincraig so you could do a search if not. It is reasonable, has one double bedroom, bunks and a single. Not posh but own garden, veranda and quiet.

Hi we went to a great 2 bedroom cottage in Aviemore in June called Lairig Vue, it is in Dalfaber Area beside the country club, it was spotless and was a good size had everything you could need and supplied a travel cot if necessary, the garden was enclosed and had the steam train running along the bottom of the garden, we loved that but some may not tho, it was in a quiet cul-de-sac and had a great view of the cairngorms too. You can see the the house on the Lairig Vue and see if its what you had in mind, we will definately be back.

We stayed at the MacDonald Resort using our Tesco vouchers and had a great time as the facilities were great. I got talking to another family while we were there and they told me that they were staying in self catering accomodation beside the hotel and were able to access all the hotel facilities free of charge. Might be worth looking into.

The self catering resort beside the hotels is Scandinavian Village. We have a timeshare there and love it, but it also rents out the apartments (flats) and villas.

You'll find info on its website. Warning though, the flats are very small. Villas are bigger and have 2 bedrooms.

When our daughter was about 18months we stayed in one of the houses in Dalfaber area at the end of Aviemore. THe company were Silverglades, but we booked via hoseasons, and because there were only 2 of us and a baby we got 50% off the price. (This only applied to come lodges and dates.) THe one we were in had 2 bedrooms, bathroom, en-suite, satelite tv. Think it may even have had washing-machine. Also fully enclosed garden. We also got a travel cot put in. It was very clean, spacious and a bit of a home from home, but ideal for us with a toddler! It was a few years ago, now though as said toddler was 6 last week!
    Waddle you do eh?

I am originally from Aviemore and would have to say if you specifically wanted Aviemore then Dalfaber is probably the most popular choice . You can use the facilities at the golf and country club as well.
There are other sites outwith Aviemore that are nice that have lodges/chalets. AS has been said Mcdonald hotels do have lodges available to let and again I am sure you can use the facilities.
The lodges were beautiful when they were first built.
Tiurist information would be able to give you a list of other accom. There are loads of beautiful cottages and houses that are used as holiday homes. In fact so many are used as holiday homes etc that the local people were priced out of the market when it came to buying homes in the area.
I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!
