Freeview PVR won't record...

Just bought a recordable freeview box online and discovered whilst I can watch all the channels fine, if I try to record anything the picture goes shaky/juddery. Also, if you try to record something in the future it doesn't come up in the recorded programmes list.
Had great trouble contacting the people I bought it from but they eventually suggested cleaning the aerial connector as it might be a signal problem?
Any ideas anyone?!
Thanks

" Cleaning the aerial connection " They are having a laugh, it sounds like the unit is faulty to me.0

If you can watch all the channels OK it doesn't sound like a signal problem0 -
It's a PVR801 Twin Tuner Freeview HDD PVR 80GB from PVR empire - I can't post the link as a newbie!
I think the brand name has been cut off the box as it is a reconditioned box but there's a leaflet from ASDA in the box.0 -

You would be better returning this for a full refund, as it's obviously faulty and paying a bit more for one that works as it should e.g. here:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Agreed, they have a 14 day returns policy, so send it back.0
