    Hi,

I like them phoning back the 2nd time cos they are mad and ranting and raving and I can have a good laugh at them , sometimes I can even make them cry and thats even better .
    .
Then you really are nasty, pathetic piece of work aren't you?
That is so tragic that you get some kind of kick out of making someone cry. I truly pity your family and friends (if indeed you have any friends).

Seems I have struck a nerve here .
Yes I am nasty and pathetic if I am woken up by someone( I work nights sometimes) , pretending to be a customer/ established supplier, breaking the law,and not taking no for an answer. I am also nasty when I find burglars in my house .
These criminals have robbed me out of my time and money and will be treated in the same way as any other criminals. Making them cry is letting them off lightly, really they should be in prison.

I have many friends and as they respect me I also respect them and I certainly dont get a kick of been nasty to nice people.

So you may ask why am I like this .
    1. Upset me I upset you - not a kick but getting even ( whats this thread called??)
    2. If everyone was like me this unwanted practice , which as this thread shows does not make its money from wise consumers ,but from the elderly and desperate, would stop overnight. ( dont see one post welcoming these calls)

All those in favour why not post your numbers below and I will phone you trying to sell to you ( or decieve you) ......watch this EMPTY space.

Yes, I am registered with the TPS .

And calling the mother /wife etc is not sexual harrasment
On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.

I have not stated or implied that I am 'in favour' of such marketing calls. My point is merely that there are better ways to deal with such annoyances than trying to anger or upset the individuals employed in such positions.
I too am registered with TPS.
I see no relevance in mentioning your attitude towards burglars and the implied comparison with unwanted marketing calls is crass to say the least.
Essentially I feel your (quite justified) frustration and annoyance about these calls could be put to better use than antagonising the staff making the calls.

I don't recall referring to anything as 'crap'.

May I suggest that for your own sanity if nothing else you unplug/turn down the phone when you are sleeping in the day?

And asking about sexual activities is sexual harrassment.
  • Changing the subject slightly...........
I have registered with TPS (as the amount of sales calls we were getting had got to the point of being absolutely ridiculous) If I ever do get a call now I just say "I am not interested" firmly and loudly and hang up. This always works. (Apart from once, when the guy rang back immediately and said"how do you know you are not interested when I didnt tell you why I was calling" To which I replied "because you are a complete stranger, therefore whatever you have to say to me, I am not interested!" and he eventually got the message.
So now, I no longer have any problems with junk mail and telephone calls, BUT, I do have a problem with flyers. Today I received 8 leaflets through my door at 3 seperate times of the day, and this happens on a daily basis. I put them straight in the recycling but I am getting really fed up. They are for pizzas, indian takeaways, chippies, carpet and upholstery cleaning firms, cleaners, gardeners, tree fellers (we have no trees!) window companies, taxis, estate agents.............. the list goes on and on.
I have put a sign up saying "please do not put leaflets through my door!" but of course this is ignored.
I also get loads of people collecting money from charity, I cant even get away with just giving them a quid to get rid of them, its a direct debit or nothing! (because then they can claim back the tax!) Or they are selling one off magazines for charity, or its the person just out of prison selling dusters etc, or its British gas trying to tempt me back to them.
It seems like no matter what you do you just cant get rid of people who want your hard earned money.
Even if you live in a fortress, everytime you go out in my town you get someone rattling a collecting tin under your nose. I always say no but feel really guilty. All charities are worthwhile arent they?
In order to appease my guilt I decided to choose a charity that meant something to me and make a regular donation to them so I am least doing my bit and can feel more at ease by saying no to the rest.
I am beginning to lose it slightly with the flyers however, I feel like taping up my letterbox! Anyone get any better ideas?

All of these people try to tug on your guilty feelings. Don't feel guilty though. You didn't ask them to talk to you.
    Happy chappy

How dare you be so rude to these nice people who are only trying to earn a living so that they can feed the kids and buy them toys for christmas. As for charities they rely on donations to keep up the good work, give genoursly.

Seriously, dont let these lawbreakers ruin your life. In a previous post I compared them to burglars and they are no better ( they illegally disrupt your emotions and steal your time). You can register not to recieve junk mail but I doubt the local Indian , pizza shop etcc would bother checking . There is little you can do other than ( waits for abuse from above posters) to shoot the messenger , so to speak. After all it is the person phoning you up,rattling the tin, stuffing junk into your home thats the problem.
Last week a leaflet was put through my door, I chased after the man and asked him to come back and pick it up as I didnt want it .
As for the charity workers , have no sympathy for them . Often they are paid on commision
Have no guilt or sympathy and the way I deal with them is to turn the tables and see these people as a source of amusuement. Perhaps you dont want to go to the extremes that I do but remember that these people rely on abusing your good manners , dont let them get away with it .
It would seem that calling their mothers/wifes names is not acceptable ( apparently I sexually harass MEN !)but I would say do/say whatever you can that makes you feel better.
You cannot change the world but you can change yourself. If enough people treat these scum with the contempt they deserve they would go away and get a proper job.

I collect for Christian Aid every year, so can see this one from the other side. This year I was collecting in a road where several people told me they 'didn't have any money'. To each of them I said 'thank you very much, sorry to bother you' and moved on. But it was tough as I'm sure they were telling the truth. Several people tried 'I don't think we had the envelope' which a) they had as I posted it myself and b) the answer is 'I've got some more here', which really only resulted in embarassment all round :o .

What I want to say is that if you say no in a polite manner, you should get a polite response (and if you don't report the person to the charity). When people come to my door I decide if it is a charity I wish to support, and refuse if not. The reason I collect for Christian Aid is because they are a charity I DO support, and see collecting as part of my way of doing that - but I fully understand that not everyone would agree with me.

As for setting up a direct debit, well, that's fine, but also envelopes have a place for your name and address on the back, and if you fill that in for your one off payment (no matter how small) then the charity gets more.

But I'm glad I only do it once a year, if I did it all the time it would be far too demoralising and depressing! And it's got more so over the years I've done this because there are so many more charities out there and so many more people who are fed up of answering the door - a view which I fully understand!
