I have searched online but the latest details for numbers and areas I can find is from an article written mid June so a bit outr of date.Does anyone know of anywhere I can find more recent local info?

Never mind,I eventually found a government site but it wasnt that much help.My son was taken to A&E late last night, was admitted early this morning and is in isolation(started on antibiotic injection straight away and painkiller drip).Still waiting on blood results,I thought he had meningitis but they say suspected swine flu?I was trying to find some info on location of reports to try to figure out where they heck he got it from if it is that.
My mum thinks they are just being over cautious and everything is suspected swine flu until its ruled out.

I'm not sure about other parts of Scotland, but if it helps, it's definitely reached Dundee as there is a few folks in my work place who have been diagnosed with it.

PS I hope your son makes a swift recovery whatever the diagnoses.
  • Thanks everybody. He got out of hospital this afternoon although he is still pretty sick. The bloods showed it was flu but it couldnt have been the swine flu otherwise they would have treated the family I would have thought.
BTW,hospital infectious disease units,I was absolutely shocked at the standards. There was no proper sign posting to let you know you were entering a dangerous area,I walked in with my 7 year old and the nurse said they didnt usually let kids in as they hadnt had all their immunisations yet, theres some pretty nasty stuff floating about in here I was told.I had no idea I was even on the infectuious diseases ward!!!(an A4 sheet in poly pocket on one door which was held open as it was a hot day).I didnt see the hand wash outside the unit entrance although there was some outside my sons room door. All the wards doors were held open as it was a hot day to let the air(and I would expect the germs)to circulate. The cleaning routine I witnessed was awful.Same mop and bucket being wheeled from room to room, between wards and isolated rooms!!!
The little volunteer trolly ladies wheeled in their cart of goods then off they went to the elevators to visit another floor.
No-one wore masks or gloves.I just thought it was shocking, considering son was rushed up there with everyone wearing masks etc then it seems that once in the actual ward anyone can just come and go.
I am glad he is home.I am not the most houseproud but I am sure we are all safer here than in hospital.

    What hospital is this?
I know of a few bad hospitals in Scotland but this one sounds shocking.
Please write to the hospital and the trust H&S regarding this situation.
