:ocongrats nunnygirl - that's excellent news!
I'm getting totally stressed out. Everything feels so unorganised. Dress shop finally called yesterday to say my dress has arrived, I phone up to make an appointment for fitting and because I'm away next Saturday, the earliest possible appointement they can give me for a 1st fitting is 7th of June - wedding is on the 18th  This seems totally ridiculous to me?! I don't know if I'm right to be concerned, or if I'm just wound up through the general attitude of the shop and the fact that the woman was really rude to me on the phone. I was so upset I could have cried.much work to be done - new sig coming soon...0 -
Well, this is the post I never thought I would write!
My dad has been in hospital for 2 weeks now, and looks like he is still going to be in there for a while yet. He has an op next week, fingers crossed it's not too serious and he will back on the mend, but he won't be back in action before 3rd June. So, after delaying the decision as long as we can, we have decided to postpone our wedding. I just can't get married without my dad giving me away, so postponement it is (definitly not cancel - just delayed!)
Obviously the last 2 weeks has just been horrid, couldn't concentrate on anything weddingy with him being so poorly, but my Dad is much more important. Fortunatly we have wedding insurance and seem to be covered, and I also have the most wonderful excellent and understanding fiance, but it's still the weirdest thing. Tomorrow I was meant to be shopping for my last few bits, and now I'm going to be begging everyone to help us out and delay our wedding.
Don't actually know why I'm posting this, but think it's helping me. Sorry for all the doom and gloom, you lot are all excited and I'm being all serious, but I just need somewhere to let it all out and this seemed like a good choice! Amazed I can see to type anyway, my eyes are so puffy from the stupid amount of crying I did last night.
I'm still going to come on here and nose at how all you lot have got on - even if I have to defect to the July / August / September brides threads!0 -
Oh TamVilla, I'm so sorry to hear your Dad is unwell. I definitely know what you mean though, I'd feel exactly the same and would postpone my wedding too if I was in your position.
It's been hard for us planning our wedding without my Grandma here. She'd have been in her element, helping with the dresses & sorting all the flowers. I found the whole flower thing too difficult so I've had a button bouquet (which I love!) and the bridesmaids are having felt bouquets which we're making, and my Grandad is sorting the flowers in the church for me as I definitely wanted them but just didn't know where to start as I'd never even thought about them as it was always going to be something that she did!
I hope everything with your Dad goes well and the rearranging of the wedding goes as smoothly as possible! Keep smiling and make the most of the extra few weeks/months time you have to get everything sorted0 -
Thanks Amy. We did say we like being engaged, so at least we can do it for a bit longer! We haven't really told anyone yet (I've told you lot before my real life friends, lol), so that's going to be an interesting process. I'm not sure where to start or what to do, so trying to get my head around it today and will tackle it with a fresh mind tomorrow.0

That definitely sounds like a planAnd I'm sure everyone will understand your way of thinking, wanting your Dad at your wedding isn't really a difficult thing to understand

Tam, I can say nothing lovely other than send you mahoosive hugs and hope that your dad gets well soon.
Know EXACTLY how you feel though with regards important people being ill just before the wedding.
I'll quote what was said to me when we thought we were going to have to postpone......'obviously the world has better ideas for you'Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

Thanks Nunny! That's what I keep saying, people will have a nicer day as they have had to wait for it.
It has (touch wood) gone ok so far. Pretty much all of the suppliers have been really helpful and understanding, so hopefully it won't cost us too much to change it all. I think because we are postponing it (we are not cancelling, just delaying!) and we were getting married on a Friday, it has gone a bit easier. Can't get out of the honeymoon though, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to going as Mr & Mrs, but just means I might get two - a pre wedding and a post wedding honeymoon:rotfl:0 -
Well I'm in a bit of a pickle.
MIL2B has brought my dress back today and how I see it in my head....it ain't going to work.
Its been altered and it's just not sitting how it should be:cool:
On the plus side I've found a FANTASTIC replacement....only problem is it's coming from Australia and it MAY not be here in time for the weddinf:eek::rotfl:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

Fingers crossed you work it out nunny!
I have a sore arm thanks to honeymoon jabs this morning.
We've been working on the seating plan all week. We stuck massive post-its on one of our walls & added mini post its as people - it looks a bit rainman, but it's been really effective.
Finishing it off & sending it to the venue tonight.
Finalized my flowers too, and I have another dress fitting tomorrow.0 -
Back to square one.
Wedding has definitely been postponed. Dad was on the phone earlier and said that my mum still isn't well enough to travel so I've emailed everyone who needs to be emailed.
Thanks for all your help and support over the past what seems like a million years
Hope all your wedding plans go as well as they can.
Enjoy the ride!Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -
