Another "interview outfit" opinion needed

I have an interview comung up for a job I really want - lot more money and a shorter commute.

I work in financial services so a suit for the interview is a given. I got a nice very dark navy one in Jaeger today ( less than half price too!).

The question is what do I accessorise it with? I never usually wear navy! Cream is safe but rather - dull but orange might be a bit much. I have to look professional but as it is almost certain that all the other candidates are male I want to stand out a bit!

Red and maybe a bit of white to break it up a bit. A red top and white (or red and white) scarf and red heels would be my choice. Or white top with red scarf.

    Good luck with the interview!

Yellow! Oh, I hope you go for yellow. I love yellow and navy together, think it looks really classic but not a bit boring.

A mustard tone would work well - maybe a belt and silk scarf, or some yellow heels.

I love yellow and navy too. (I used to wear a yellow shirt with my navy riding coat in horse shows, lol).

People might suggest pink, which would work well, but I'd avoid that very strongly for an interview (as opposed to office wear). You want to look like a professional woman, not professional girl.

Red (or red accents with cream shirt) would work well. Calm, confident unfussy but stylish: but perhaps a bit strong though?

Yellow is a good comprimise: only I'd opt more strong canary than mustard.

Personally, depending on ''level'' I'd opt for sober shoes. :(

ETA: one of DH's interview ''outfits'' was a navy suit with a lemon shirt and a lemon and lightish/brightish but not garish blue tie. It looked smashing.

Mmm thank you all - definitely food for thought there. I hadn't considered red or yellow as accent colours.

Yes it is senior enough role to have to look the part. I don't have any "sober" shoes other than basic black courts though - my one and only navy pair are 4" denim mules with turquoise sequins and embroidered palm trees :rotfl: I don't think I'll be wearing them! I can do red or a nice pair of vintage yellow Gina or orange or pink or green .....

Aaah, the sober shoe. I always feel 'sensible shoes' is a real oxymoron! :rotfl:

Canary yellow would look lovely and really lift your outfit. And it'll make you feel happy and cheerful which will translate in your interview!

Hmm. Is it summer weather? Can you go barelegged in the yellow shoes? I'd do that I guess.

Grammer girl, I only own one pair of ''sober shoes'' now I don't work. They are however, 5 inch heels, so how sober they really are I don't know. I guess I meant dark....not too ...girly. But hey, I sort of agree with you too. :)

Yellow is a good idea then. I'd restrain a little to comprimise, making sure not even a whisper of low cut ness too top and ''quiet'' jewellery.

yellow is a really underused colour, IMO.
