Ha - surprised I've managed to find this thread! Just a wee update:
We did actually find a four bedroomed house *under* our budget of £100k and in a nice area too, lovely neighbours, and in a quiet cul-de-sac. Have been living here a year now and have not looked back once. It can be done!!0 -

Well done saltire. Where did you end up getting a house? Any questions about Falkirk and where to find things etc, just ask. Been here for many many years lol.0 -
Hi all!!!
Just looking for some advise....firstly looking to rent in the Falkirk area maybe Camelon or Larbert for the train stations!! This will be the first time I'm renting and have the problem off a poor credit rating....nothing too bad and not far off paying it all off....I understand maybe offering dopsit plus few months upfront payments could maybe help if I found a good LA I could be honest with?????
As I said this would be my first time renting and wouldn't have an idea of all other expenses that come with the rent??????0 -
Hi
My family and I are considering moving to the Falkirk/Stirling area and am looking for similar advice please.
We know having looked at Rightmove that we can get a nice 4 bedroom house for our budget (£200k), but are still unsure having read this thread where would should be looking at. I am going to be visiting the area in a couple of weeks and it would be good if I can have the search narrowed down from advice from you good people.
Commuting is not an issue as I work at home, but wife will need to find a job in the area. Have 13yr old son and so good high school a must.0 -
Depends on what your looking for in the area you want to move too e.g what type of facilities, how rural, access to public transport etc etc. I live in Reddingmuirhead and its about 1.5 - 2 miles from motorway, has a big supermarket nearby, about 1 mile from train station and near a canal which can be nice for a walk, bike ride or run, the large public park is just over a mile away. If you clarify what you're looking for, may be able to help0

We are looking for something semi-rural but with easy access to large town. We have lived in large towns in the past and now enjoy a semi-rural smallish market town. What you describe about Reddingmuirhead facilities is the type of thing we are looking for as where we live just now has similar facilities. Nearby supermarket, Grand Union Canal, nearby motorway (M25 10mins away so anything is a breeze after that). It terms of other facilities, sports is what my son and I are into, Football, we both play, so a local youth club and adult club, son does kickboxing/cricket/scouts (I was a BB man myself). I occasionally will have to go into the office (Glasgow) and am prepared to drive up to an hr each way, so anything within 10-15 mins of motorway is fine.
Hope to hear from you again soon.0 -
I've sent you a pm0
