Too Much Red Tape In Job Applications

I am sure a lot of you would agree that there is far too much red tape in job recruitment exercises (e.g. endless papers to fill in, whole days spent doing daft role plays etc. etc.).

I wonder if they would still be inclined to operate these rigid red-tape preconditions if there was full employment and they had trouble getting staff.

Hmm, makes you think.

It all depends on where your applying to. If you apply to my company i'll take a look at your CV, if i like the look of it you'll get a call. If you sound half decent on the phone you'll get an invite for an interview. If in the interview you impress me you get offered the job.

No forms, no roleplay, no group discussion. All i'm interested in is if you can do the job and if you'll fit in.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes, your recruitment policy is exactly how it should be. I just wish more employers went back to this procedure, instead of continuing with all that long-winded nonsense I referred to in my previous post.

No wonder it's so hard these days trying to get work, when you have to jump through all those hoops!

Truegho...I may be way off here, but in the past two days I've seen you post around six threads all on the same subject...your failure to get a job and also the way companies recruit. Surely these could all have been put in one post as bullet points?

It's up to the company how they want to recruit, and if 'doing daft role play' exercises for an hour gets you a job, you wouldn't complain would you? I think you should take some time out from your lack of job and as others have said just chill. Take a walk, play computer games, learn a new hobby. I've been out of work since April and only just managed to get a job I can viably commit to now. It's not all doom and gloom. Pick yourself up, and the less you stop worrying about getting a job...you'll notice they'll all come along when you stop trying so hard!

Truegho, could I suggest that you continue posting on one of your other threads, rather than repeatedly starting threads on the same topic?

If you go to your profile page, you will be able to select to view all the threads that you have started, so you can pick the most suitable one.

[Oh no, here we go again - NASTY posts!

I honestly do not know why people like you should see fit to snap at me like this. The good people on this forum who sympathise with my plight have advised me how to treat such messages.

All because someone says something that you do not want to hear, it does not make it nasty. Employers want people who are positive and looking forward, not dwelling on the same old issues.

Being unemployed is horrid. Being constructive in your jobsearch will make you much more positive, and a much more attractive potential employee.

I was going to say the same thing... but decided it would be wasted effort. Opted to put Truegho on my ignore list instead – now I don't have to see his repetitive pointless rants! ;)
If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.

I agree with lufcgirl and dmg24.

You seem to be posting about pretty much the same thing all the time. No one is snapping at you or being nasty, just giving you a bit of constructive criticism (which you'll need in any job!) Try to take the comments on board instead of taking them as an insult all the time.

Perhaps you should look back at the comments on the posts you have already started and see what people have already suggested. Although you've probably already put me on ignore and won't see this anyway...ah well.

i personally dont see the point in application forms when they just tell u to put whats on ur CV anyway.

and the worst is most get binned or not even looked at/acknowledged.

if they want the extras like the multiple choice, e.t.c, just asked for that to be send/handed in with CV. all this application form stuff is just nonsense.
