KIDS ID for Flights

hi everyone

Managed via MMST to get Ryan Air flights for 6 of us return to London for £196 - BRILL!! But then realised that I need ID for the kids. None of us have valid passports at present, 2xadults can use driving licence but does anyone know of any other valid ID which is acceptable for children? Haven't booked yet but would love to go.

As for driving licences the Ryanair website says:
passengers making new bookings from the 20th May 2009 onwards will no longer be able to select to check-in at the airport and therefore will be unable to book flights and use their driving licence as photo-id.

From the 1st October 2009 driving licences will NO LONGER be an acceptable travel document on Ryanair flights

In effect, the children and adults must have a passport. This is why I opted to fly with Flybe to Gatwick as they accept a driving licence as ID and children under 16 do not need ID as the adults can vouch for their identity.

Yep, Ryanair now take passport only as ID, another brilliant move to help people fly, what a shower they are. Never travelling with them again.

  • Ryanair is great for the following only:
    1) you expect nothing more than a cheap experience
    2) you are a single adult who has plenty of spare time to book online, checkin online in silence, with no distractions so that you can concentrate on fighting your way through pages of tiny tick boxes
    3) you have an electron card
    3) you have a valid passport
    4) you have no luggage
    5) you only want a quick internal uk flight
    6) you dont mind arriving 1 1/2 hours away from any main city and paying £50 return in train fairs/taxi fairs on top of your ticket price to get to where you need to be from the airport

If youve got kids/luggage/no electron card/not much spare time/no computer or geography degree then I would suggest giving it a miss unless you like a rustic and stressful challenge...
Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T

Yep im afraid you need a passport to fly with Ryanair for Kids. There is another form of id an adult can use, can't remember what it is, but no driving licences. We just use passports with any airline now to be on the safe side.

My friend had to get passports for her kids (6 & 2 yrs old) to fly with Easyjet in June.
