Owning a car and being Bankrupt

Hi,
I made myself Bankrupt Oct 08, and my partner at the time took a small loan so that we could get a car (as mine was repossessed in the bankruptcy) we registered it in her name and I was a named driver on her insurance... We have recently split up and she has taken the car back (a whole different story lol)
Anyway, my mum has now offered to buy me a car (It's worth £2000), I am wondering whether I can register it in my name? and Insure it in my name? Or could I get it taken off me as an asset even though I am 10 months into my bankruptcy?
Please help???
Thanks
Claire

I am not sure about the time scale question, but the legal owner and registered keeper are two different things.
If your mum pays for the car and the recipt is in her name you can still be the registered keeper and insure it. The OR is only interested in the legal owner, so if your mum paid she would be the legal owner, and they can have no interest in it.
I think thats right0 -
Thank you!!! That's what I was hoping, it just makes it easy re insurance to be the registered keeper...0

I had the same thing,i transfered my mums car into my name so i could pay the insurance, she was paying the HP.I didnt even tell the OR about it,as i did not legally own it.0
