washing machine advice please?

ok...so when i do i washing my clothes come out smelling lovely...but still have lots of fluff and hair etc attached to them. Most of my clothes are black so it is fairly noticable.

Yesterday i washed my bedding, and thought that putting it on a 90 degree wash might help, but it came out with fluff on it too.

Any ideas about this? The machine only ever seems to do it with my clothes, not my mums or brothers

are you washing different coloured things together? that would make fluff etc very noticeable!

if you dry things on a washing line outside, any fluff will just get blown away, and tumble drying. Drying on airers will just leave it on!

  • Well i seperate all my clothes into darks and whites. I don't have anything in between to do a seperate "lights" wash.
Generally, work trousers, jeans, hoodies, cardis and t-shirts come out the worst.
I try to hang them outside when i can, but i live in Scotland...it rains alot! Plus i hate the thought of spiders running all over my clothes.
We don't have a tumble drier, so everything generally gets put on a clothes horse, over the heaters and towels over doors to dry.

I have a north facing garden which is very small and means i can only dry outside between april and october, and in the winter i use my tumble dryer.

I had one that cost me £50 from the freeads, have you thought of getting one? Not very MSE i know but it saves my life. There are 2 adults and 3 schoolchildren in my house and not enough doors!

Also have you tried emptying the filter of the washing machine?

Well it would be up to my mum to get one really, as i still live at home (only 22!)
We used to have one in our old house, but i was too young to even realise what it did i think, lol!
I didn't know washing machines had a filter??

  • thanks, shes back from holiday tomorrow, so will ask her then!
  • Roflao at myself, not you. I grew up wearing a lot of black, not goth though and always had this problem. Especially on a night out when the lights at the pub would make them glow BRIGHT white.

Between now and your mum getting back, just wash them inside out, make sure you don't put fabrics that shed such as towels in and check pockets for tissues.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, just wanted to cover anything I could.

    Good luck.
