Actually, it is Mr S's cheaper equivalent - think it's low fat sunflower spread. I've used up my butter already for this week, but have lots of the spread left.
Does anyone know if it will bake ok and taste nice as a crumble topping?
I thought that it might not be so good with oven temperatures as normal butter and don't want to waste any ingredients

I've always used spreads when baking rather than proper butter. There is a bit of a taste difference but still good in my opinion0

I use it. But then I don't have butter. Obviously it won't taste quite the same as it won't taste buttery. But it's still goodworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

I would think that any spread with the word 'light' in it has some water in, so probably wouldn't be suitable for baking a cake, however, have used it for a crumble and has turned out fine. For cakes, you will get better results if you use ordinary soft margarine (not light) or butter.0
