New Mortgage - moving House

My partner and I are both with Nationwide but are now looking to sell our proerties and buy a house together. Should we shop around for a mortgage and if so is the best way to do this via a broker or can this be done via a site like moneysupermarket?
We want to sell one property and rent the other therefore Nationwide have told us we need a minimum of 15% deposit for our second mortgage, does anyone know if this is standard?
any advice would be appreciated!
