Employer not paying my tax
Comments

Hi
I am in a similar position I work for a small firm and I am their only employee. I have no contract or payslips, when I ask about tax and student loan I am told that the account deals with it, but I have never had so much as a P60. Initally I was concerned about my student loan not being paid, but at my wages 500/600 per month I dont think I earn enough to pay it back, but I am unsure about my tax? I have been in this position for 2 years and have not had any letters from the tax man as to enquiring what I am doing (I have had these before in between jobs as a student) so Im guessing something must be being paid? One thing my employer did say was they paid the last employees taxes all at once when she left? Can employers do this? Just save all the tax to be submitted at once? also I am paid by a standing order into my account so there is a paper trail I am not paid cash.0 -
Hi. I can't sleep tonight as we have just discovered what we always wondered about, whether my husbands boss was actualy paying his Tax and national insurance. He stops the money from his wages but he always gets the same amount each week. I said that I thought it could vary now and then by a penny or so and my husband asked his boss who said that he was told it would be easier to work out if he took the pay down to the nearest £10. (So this meant that he was giving the wages short each week). Not only that as he never gave him any wage slips or P60's to go by we had no idea if the wage was right or not and kept asking for these things and each time he kept promosing to see his accountant about it(if he really has one).I knew that everyone was going to be allowed to earn more before paying tax this year but my Husbands wage never changed!!!!!! We have wrote to his boss about 4 times now asking for the money owing and wage slips and P60's but never get them. I wrote in requesting details on my husbands National Insurance payments for the last few years and have recieved details back that it has not been paid. So we phoned the Tax office who also have no P60's for the last 3 years. It was as if my Husband did not exsist!! The Tax office said that they would write to him and I have told my Husband to take the day off tomorrow to get this sorted and that he should also see his boss's wife as she is in partnership in the company and has no idea what is going on and someone told us that if she knew she would not have let this happen! We have already been told about things that he has been up to and so I am not surprised that he is doing this but he has been such a good liar and my Husband felt sure that he could trust that he was paying everything! I am so upset about it all!!!!

I would just like to add that if it wasn't for the online tax calculators I would never have realised that my Husband was much more short in his wages each week than we realised and this mounts up to a hell of a lot for the year!0

Sad grandmother it is a very similar situation to mine. Can I ask, when you spoke to the tax office did they say who they were going to try and retrieve the unpaid tax from? Does your husband have a work contract?0
